Freedom In Christ

LIFE GROUP QUESTIONS

Key Verse: Galatians 5:1 – It is for freedom that Christ has set us free.  Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.

1. Frank broke this verse down into 3 parts: 1) A declaration/promise “It is for freedom that Christ has set us free”, 2) The command/challenge, “stand firm”, and 3) The warning “do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery”.  Which of the three parts resonated with you the most?  Why?

2.  Frank mentioned that sometimes the danger isn’t something new but going back to something old.  Why do you think people return to old sins or mindsets even after experiencing freedom?  What can we do in our lives to prevent that from happening?

3.  What does it mean to you that being a “slave to Christ” leads to true freedom? How does that paradox challenge your thinking?

4.  “Stand firm” is described as an active, ongoing effort.  Give some examples in your life where you have had to stand firm in your faith?
